Mary Ward International Australia (MWIA) focuses on the empowerment of women and children, community development, social justice, poverty reduction, healthcare and protection against violence and trafficking.
The types of projects MWIA supports include:
- Primary, secondary, tertiary education for children and young people.
- Adult education, such as life skills, vocational training, literacy and numeracy.
- Community development, including leadership and organisational training.
- Rural development.
- Community savings and micro-credit schemes.
- Health assessments, medical and surgical care, therapy and rehabilitation.
- Hostel accommodation and other support to enable access to health and education for people from remote and conflict areas.
